Can dental implant treatment be covered by dental insurance?

Missing teeth can negatively affect the smile in a variety of ways. It can affect the way patients speak, eat, and feel about the way they look. Missing teeth may also result in reduced oral health. Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat encourages patients to restore their smiles with dental implants whenever possible.

The dental implant is a titanium rod that is made to act as the natural tooth root. It is put into the bone, and then during osseointegration the bone fuses to the implant, which holds it firmly in place – just as it would a natural tooth. On the top of the dental implant, Dr. places an abutment, which supports the dental crown that acts as the false tooth. There are some situations when a dental implant may be placed primarily to anchor a dental bridge or to stabilize dentures. The dental implant is incredibly versatile and can be used in a number of situations for our patients.

Many patients who are interested in dental implants may wonder if their treatment can be covered by dental insurance. In some cases, it can. However, this depends on the dental insurance plan you are enrolled with. Each company has its own policies in regards to restorations. Some insurance companies will cover, in part, all restorations, while some may only cover one type such as a denture. Our front office staff is well versed in applying for dental insurance reimbursements and can help patients determine if their insurance plan can reduce their out-of-pocket expenses. If you are interested in learning about your coverage, do not hesitate to bring your dental insurance card with you to your dental appointment to find out how we are able to help you afford the dental work you need for your smile!

Thanks for the detailed write up on implants and dental insurance! I’m curious to know if there is any other options besides insurance? Are there any special discounts or packages you might have? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
