Missing teeth may be caused by poor oral hygiene, disease, or injury to the mouth. Regardless of how it happens, Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat and his team at A-Dental Center can provide a solution for replacement. Our practice offers three methods of tooth replacement – dental bridges, dentures, and dental implants. However, there is no “one size fits all” solution for every case of tooth loss. Dr. Fadi Edmond Elzayat will often suggest dental implants whenever he can because he feels they are the best option for most patients.

Dental implants can be used by North Hollywood area patients to replace one or more teeth. When used alone, the dental implant can replace a single tooth. It is installed into the bone of the jaw and then restored over the top with a dental crown to function as a false tooth. However, it looks completely natural within the dental arch. If patients need to anchor a dental bridge, they may also use dental implants. Dental implants are placed for patients who choose implant-supported dentures. Four to six implants are strategically placed into the bone of the jaw along the dental arch and the full denture is made to snap into place over the implants for stability and strength.

There are several benefits to using dental implants. First, they help in maintaining the bone. They use the bone to hold the restoration in place, but they also stimulate bone growth. This keeps patients from developing that “sunken in” appearance they may get if they were to choose traditional full dentures without implants. Second, with proper care, patients may enjoy their implants the rest of their lives. Implant procedures are 99 percent successful. Third, dental implants look and function just like natural teeth. They do not require any special care or attention. Patients are still urged to visit their dentist at least twice a year for an examination and to have their restorations evaluated by a professional.
